On 3–5 September 2026, CELSI Scientific Director Martin Kahanec presented at the 11th ILERA Asian Regional Congress 2026 in Tokyo, jointly hosted by JILPT and JIRRA, under the theme "Challenges for the New World of Work: How Should We Respond to New Technologies?"

Martin presented the paper "Global Benchmarks for Decent Living: Measuring and Validating the Living Wage Against Minimum Wage and Other Adequacy Standards", co-authored by: Martin Guzi (Masaryk University & CELSI), Nina Holičková (CELSI & Ústav experimentálnej psychológie, Centrum spoločenských a psychologických vied SAV), and Nii Ashia Amanquarnor (WageIndicator Foundation).

The paper examines how living wage benchmarks compare with minimum wages and other adequacy standards across countries, contributing to the development of globally applicable tools for measuring decent living.

Three further papers co-authored by CELSI researchers were presented at the congress by colleagues from WageIndicator Foundation, covering AI, algorithmic management and collective bargaining in European services; the living wage and living pension framework; and pay-setting outside standard employment.

We are glad that all four papers were well received and sparked genuine interest among congress participants.
